Emily Schierberl
Education & Retreats Manager, Training Team, Instructor, RYT-200
Emily first found yoga in 2013 when taking summer classes for college credits called “Relaxation Skills” and “Religions of the World.” She learned what asana was, and how it could be used as a form of exercise as well as a way to relieve stress. She also learned about the Hindu and Buddhist religious and how and where the practice originated. Living in a small rural town about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh, yoga studios weren’t a thing. So she started watching YouTube videos in her college apartment. After moving to Pittsburgh in 2017, she kept up her YouTube classes until she was drug by a friend to her first real Vinyasa class in January 2019 with Suzanne. Om’s focus on yoga philosophy as well as the asana kept her coming back for more. Fulfilling a goal to learn more about yoga and how to share it with anyone who would listen, she completed her 200 hour teacher training at Om Lounge in June 2020.
Emily’s classes will give you a balance of the “mind-stuff” as well as challenging your body. She’s always down to laugh at herself, and encourages her students to not take themselves too seriously either. She believes your time on your mat should be a time you feel most comfortable in your own skin, and where you are in your practice that day.
Off the mat, Emily works as a commercial real estate analyst, loves math, reading, and finding the best patios Pittsburgh.
